              TO BE HAPPY IN LIFE
CHANGE YOUR  ORIENTATION
                      SAYs
SWAMI SWAROOPANAND(Pawas)

I wish over 41000 viewers of “ स्वामी म्हणे-” blog a very very
happy, healthy and prosperous 2019.

It gives me immense pleasure to share below a stream of
consciousness, I experienced, while contemplating on Swami
Swaroopanandjee’s Sanjeevani Gatha Abhang No 71 quoted
below-

(In this, Swamiji says, there is no need to study scriptures,
observe fasts/do rituals or torture your body. There is no need
to follow any particular religious method, or visit places of pilgrimage like Kashi-Gaya. No need to chant mantras / practice  occult. No need to meditate or worship. There is no need to involve in Vedantic debates. Swamiji concludes telling us to concentrate on our natural heart beat.)

Swamiji’s Abhang reminds me of the famous Marathi Play
“तुझे आहे तुजपाशी” by famous playwright late P L Deshpande,
which enthralled Marathi audience for over four decades.

Swamiji gave us this timeless message poetically, in brief.
As long ago as in 1945 he emphasized, that, it is futile to search happiness outside or through external aids, as it is within you. One may find happiness, for some time by traditional methods, or through aqisitions temporarily, momentarily, but eternal happiness lyes only within & not outside.

First three lines of Abhang 71 quoted above describe what
most of the people generally resort to in search of happiness,
misled by majority &  due to our bodily/physical orientation.
We tend to forget that our body will be there till we breathe.
When we breathe our last, what remains is not more than a
corpse, which is consigned to flames, disposed of as per the
religious faith. In other words our body exists till we breathe.
It is our breath, which ties us with the Almighty the omnipresent. We must, therefore, remain grateful to HIM for our very existence.

The best way to remind us, that we are very much a part and
parcel of THE SOVEREIGN & to connect with him is to keep
saying “I am that” सोऽहं. So the simple way to remember him
is to pay attention to our heart beat, the natural sound caused
by vibrations of continuous inhale / exhale exercise to get your
orientation right,

  “अहमात्मा हें कधींचि विसरों नये ” दासबोध

This has been Swamijee’s philosophy of life. A plate carrying
the above message still present in his “Anant Niwas” room
was guiding principle/compass of Swamijee’s life. His literature
showcases same.
Swamiji was a great visionary. He anticipated, that, a time will
come glued to various electronic devices human-beings won”t
find time, even to find out what is good for them.
We see this happening around us today. People are becoming
victims of phubbing. (A new term)
Enlightened soul as he was, he had great insight into human
mind, enunciated in the Ovi below-

     “ कां जें यया मनाचें एक निकें ।जें देखिले गोडीचिया
         ठाया सोके। म्हणोनि अनुभवसुखचि कवतिकें ।
                 दावीत जाईजे॥ज्ञानेश्वरी ६/४२०॥ ”

(Human mind gets hooked on to it, what it finds to be
interesting. Therefore, we must let it taste eternal happiness,
derived from own experience.)
Avid reader of Dnyaneshwari, and a born teacher Swamiji
experimented it in a novel way.
He selected only 108 Ovis, at random, from Dnyaneshwari and
rearranged these in a meaningful fresh sequence, initially for
my mother, late Mrs Ramabai aka Banutai Ranade,.
He titled this unique compilation “Dnyaneshwari Nityapath”
adding one last 109th Ovi. He used to give it to those visiting
him. This resulted in a large number getting interested in the
original text, thus achieving Swamijee’s aim.

“Sankshipta Abhang Dnyaneshwari”( Summary of entire
Abhang Dnyneshwari) a 52 pages, handy booklet, “Geeta Tatv
Sar” compiled by him & Swamijee’s “Teen Pravachane” are
best examples of philosophical fast food for future generations.

Swamiji’s independent literature viz.“Amritdhara” “Bhawarth
Geeta”, “Swaroop Patra Manjusha” “Sanjeevani  Gatha” are all
excellent examples of his inimitable style of narrating recondite
philosophical theorem in simple Marathi poetically. His literature
gives an illuminating stream of consciousness, to its readers.

Wrong orientation may prove disastrous in life. So Swamiji
advises us to get proper orientation.

 “ अखंड अंतरीं सहज स्फुरण |  तेथें ठेवीं मन स्वामी म्हणे ”
     थोडक्यात काय- “देहबुद्धी ते आत्मबुद्धी करावी”

Happiness is a state of mind. If you are
happy within it will automatically reflect
in all your actions and behavior.
Swamijee was an EPITOME of such a
state. He only preached what he
practiced.
On the eve of Swamijee’s 116th birth anniversary
falIing on Margasheersh Vadya 12th, (2 Jan 19) I offer these
bouquet of words at the lotus feet of Soham Hansavatar
Sadguru Swaroopanandaji.
